Who We Are Shapes How We Live
There’s a quote from John Mark Comer that’s been on repeat in my head:
“Show me a person’s habits and I will show you what they are truly most passionate about.”
Not their intentions.
Not their aspirations.
Their habits.
Because habits reveal our story.
Not the habits we wish we had.
The ones we actually live with.
If you’ve ever reached the end of a long day and wondered why you feel disconnected, restless, or hurried, the answer often isn’t found in a single decision. It’s found in the quiet patterns that shape your days - the things you reach for without thinking.
Your habits are not just routines. They are reflections.
They reflect what you believe about your time.
About your worth.
About what matters most.
The Habits You Practice Are Forming You
The habits we form are often our beliefs in action.
What we reach for when we’re tired.
How we speak to ourselves under pressure.
The way we begin and end our days.
What we default to when no one is watching.
These small, repeated choices are rarely about willpower.
They’re about alignment.
Alignment between what we say we value and how we actually live.
Alignment between our faith and our everyday rhythms.
Alignment between who we are becoming and the small practices that shape us along the way.
This is why habits matter. Not because they make us more productive, but because they form us.
They shape the kind of people we become.
They shape how present we are with our families.
How grounded we feel in our faith.
How much peace we carry into our everyday lives.
Your Habits Can Change
And the good news is this:
Habits are not fixed.
They can be noticed.
They can be reshaped.
They can be practiced gently, one small step at a time.
In this season, I’m exploring habits not as discipline or self-improvement but as formation.
Formation into the person God is inviting you to become.
Not through drastic change.
But through intentional practice.
Not to overhaul your life.
But to notice what’s already shaping it.
Because who you are shapes how you live. And how you live, over time, shapes who you become.
What’s Already Shaping Your Life
What daily habits are shaping your life right now?
Not the ones you hope to live but the ones already present.
Awareness is always the first step toward change.
